The New Year marks another opportunity to make resolutions. The last few Januarys, I vowed to organize my home, and this year is no different. For 2009 I am inspired to go beyond typical storage and focus on making my storage solutions decorative as well as functional. From gussying up boxes and totes with pretty labels to transforming flea-market finds into the perfect place to stash everything from paperwork to linens, you can make your storage do it all.

Stylish Storage Solutions

 
 Use canvas and tension rods to create shades for open spaces.
 Transform a pair of two-shelf laminated storage stackers (commonly used for organizing shoes) into wall shelves.
 A kid-friendly way to store just about anything.Add bun feet to an upper kitchen cabinet and top with a seat cushion in a durable fabric or vinyl.
Combine storage with any built-in dining table, banquette unit, or breakfast bar. The toaster cover and the wine rack are made of maple strips.
Make every inch count with shallow shelves between wall studs. Use this area for necessities in a tiny bath.
